Who can use Tappie

Tappie is about alcoholic drinks, so you must be 18 or older, or the legal drinking age where you live if that’s higher. One account per person, and you’re responsible for keeping your password to yourself.

Drink responsibly

Tappie is for enjoying and remembering good drinks, not for drinking more. Never drink and drive. Ratings, notes and badges are for fun; nothing on Tappie is a reason to drink more than you want to. If drinking is becoming a problem for you, please talk to someone you trust or a local support service.

Your content

What you post (check-ins, notes, photos, ratings, drinks you add) stays yours. To run Tappie we need your permission to store it, show it to other people on Tappie, show it on share pages when you share it, and make the copies and thumbnails that requires. You give us that permission, worldwide and free of charge, for as long as the content is on Tappie. Drinks you add to the shared catalog may be edited and stay in the catalog if you leave, without your name.

Only post what you have the right to post: your own photos and words.

What’s not allowed

• Anything illegal, including content involving minors and alcohol.
• Harassment, threats, hate, or abuse of any person or group.
• Sexual or violent content, and other people’s private information.
• Spam, fake reviews, ratings bought or traded, and pretending to be someone else or a brand you don’t run.
• Promoting excessive or underage drinking, or drink driving.
• Breaking, scraping or overloading the service, or getting around its limits.

Moderation

Anyone can report a check-in, photo, drink or person in the app. Our moderators review reports and may hide content, fix catalog details, or suspend and ban accounts that break these terms. We may also act without a report when we see something that clearly breaks them. Blocking someone stops you seeing each other on Tappie. If you think we got a decision wrong, email us.

Brand accounts

Brand accounts are for the people who actually make the drinks. Don’t claim a brand you don’t represent. Brands can list and describe their own drinks, but they can’t change or remove what other people say about them.

The drinks catalog

Many of the drinks in Tappie, with their barcodes, come from Open Food Facts, a free database built by volunteers, made available under the Open Database License. Tappie’s drinks catalog (names, producers, styles, regions, ABV and barcodes) is shared under the same licence: ask us at the address below for a copy. Check-ins, ratings, photos and accounts are not part of it.

Getting the app

Tappie for Android is distributed as an APK from this website only. Copies from anywhere else aren’t ours and may be unsafe. The app checks for updates from us and asks before installing them.

The service is provided as is

We work hard to keep Tappie running well, but it’s provided “as is”, without warranties. Ratings, prices and drink details come from the community and may be wrong. We’re not liable for losses that come from using Tappie, as far as the law allows. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

Leaving

You can stop using Tappie and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. We may also change or end the service; if we shut it down, we’ll give you notice in the app.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change matters. If you keep using Tappie after that, the new terms apply.
